TwinSkin 5353
I would like the cabin installed along with the felt shingle and all the
insulation (solid foam) needed to do walls roof and floor. Also when doing the
base what would be the best measurements to use to fit the Twin
Skin 5353.
Answer......
We are able to supply and install all of our cabins nationally, the prices for
which are on our "Log cabins additional information" page which is listed in
the top menu bar on every page within our website.
The ideal base size for the Twinskin 5353 is 5.26m x 5.26m, which will mean
that the building oversails the base by 10mm all round and therefore any water
that flows don the walls will drip clear of the base.
We do offer the service to supply and lay a raised timber deck for our
installed cabins. This is a raised heavy duty timber framework supported by
recycled plastic posts which don't rot and also form an integral damp proof
course. Apart from being a lot cheaper than a concrete base, it is much
quicker, easier to lay especially in awkward sites and can be constructed at
the same time as the cabin.

Storey Log House
HI, do you need planning permission for this ? also how much is it for
installation? and finally do I prepare the base?
Answer......
Yes planning permission is always required where the ridge height is more than
4m and also if the structure is for habitation, please refer to the link in
the left hand menu bar "UK planning permission".
We require a suitable base to be laid in advance of commencement of
installation. A structure such as this would require a structural
engineer/architect to provide drawings for submission to your local council,
in which would be the calculations for the basework which differs from site to
site depending on soil conditions.
I am enquiring re fitting of kitchen toilet etc. and
construction electrics plumbing.
Answer...... Other than
installing the cabin/house, we are only able to install electrics within our
buildings.
General Log Cabin Enquiry
I have quite a large plot of freehold land, beside my house and I am asking
you advice on whether on not if your products are suitable for living in. I
would be looking for a two bedroom bungalow type.
Answer......
We can offer a single storey house which is called the "Lillehammer", which we
have various videos available to view in "cabin movies" in the top menu bar or
we can offer the 2 storey log house which you can see in "log houses" in the
top menu bar. Both of these buildings are cavity walled cabins and therefore
offer excellent insulation values. Please also refer to "UK planning
permission" in our left hand menu bar.
We are desperately trying to find a company who will deliver a log cabin to
Portugal, or even better who have a branch in Portugal! Have you any
suggestions? We live in central Portugal between Lisbon an Porto.
Answer......
We can certainly deliver to any country within the EU without a problem. We
would need to know a postcode and the size of building required in order for
us to price for the transport.
Aspen
Clock House Log Cabin
I am interested in this shed but I do have some width restrictions in trying
to get the shed through the house. As the longest length is the width at 5
meters, does this mean the whole panel is 5 metres long or does it come in
pieces? Likewise with the other panels.
Answer...... Log cabins are
"interlocking" buildings and therefore are built up log by log so that they
cross over at the corners, therefore "interlocking" with each other. This
means that they are very easy to build in awkward sites because the bulkiest
items are usually the doors and windows. All we need is a straight run
through without sharp corners that the individual logs can fit down. If you
are unsure of the suitability of your route you should unreel a tape measure
to the 5.5m (in this case), with a person at each end, then just carry it
down the proposed route. If you don't have to bend the tape, then the logs
will also fit down this route.
Custom Timber Building
Hi, we are a football club in Newport who have been given use of a plot of
land to put demountable building down which would be used for changing
facilities. The council will supply water and gas and electricity to the
building but we would have to supply the building. Is this something that you
could help us with and give us prices on. I t would need to be big enough to
have at least 4 changing facilities and a shower
room.
Answer...... Yes we are
able to supply such a building. Our Lillehammer range is classed as a parkhome
and therefore mobile. Depending on requirements and sizes required, the
easiest way to construct it is to build a steel sub-frame supported on
concrete pads on which the building can be built. The steel sub-frame can then
be used as the lifting points if it ever has to be moved.
Large or two cabins joined together
Can I join two cabins together?
Answer...... Yes it is very easy
to join cabins together as long as they are the same width, height to the
ridge and height to the eaves. You would always join cabins so that the ridges
line through together to act as one roof rather than across the ridge where
you would end up with an "M" shaped roof with a valley gutter between, this
would be very difficult to weatherproof and maintain.
Would it require planning permission?
Answer...... One factor that is
worth bearing in mind is that if the building exceeds 30m² internally then it
needs to comply with building regulations. Although it is not a major issue to
comply as most of our buildings are made to this standard anyway, it does
probably mean that:
1) Full groundworks will be required and therefore the expense that goes with
it.
2) If the building is within 5 metres of your house or within 1 metre of any
boundary then
it will need to be fire proofed and will also probably require planning
permission.
Lillehammer
Log Cabin
I am very interested in your Lillehammer log cabin for both permanent dwelling
for an elderly relative and another, slightly larger version to be used as
holiday self-catering accommodation.
